Live like a King
I didn't need a 6 figure income to live like a king. That's because I understood what a king is. When I'm officially crowned, I'm gonna have an army of servants ever ready to squeeze out pills of sweat for me. No, that is not a lavish lifestyle, they are helping me build the empire I started building back when I was still nameless.
A great guy once said, "There are leaders and then there are those who lead." In that regard, not everyone who has a crown is a king, therefore I do not envy everyone I see clad in a royal robe. You see, I understand what a king is.
Back when I was still nameless, I, the forgotten bastard child of a mighty king, treated my crumbling hut like a castle. I held its defence like I would a mighty fort, I made sure my windows and door where tight and secure before leaving. And when I went out, I would guard my precious wallet like Gollum guarded the ring, even though there was only a couple of notes in it.
So when you see me perched behind a nest of spears borne by my royal guard, its a continuation of what started a long time ago. The only difference is I now have bigger and more elaborately equipped thieves to worry about than I did back then. Yet still, I didn't need a pay check with a lot of zeros to start living like a king.
I would lend a helping hand wherever I could, I gave the little cash and kind I had to those I deemed in need, even those who had not asked for it. Many times my heart would be left frying in a pan of pain, hurt because my help was only scratching the surface, not changing much. But I didn't see the point in waiting till I had a vault full of gold for me to start helping others. After all my step-father was a poor man, yet overwhelmingly generous. It is from him I learnt that generosity comes from the heart, not the pocket.
From a tender age, I felt the urge to nurture and to protect all things, all people. A mad man once rescued the lady next door, saving her from being cremated alive when her house caught fire. I immediately recognised the value and potential in every person no matter who they are or their station in life. In the darkened cravens of my heart, a fire began to flicker, a desire to set alight the beauty in others, and protect that flame from the wind of the ignorant.
Even though I never knew of the royal blood that gushed through my arteries, I understood what a king is.
I think I got it from nature itself, how a rooster crows to warn all the chickens to take cover as the eagle looms in the sky above, and how that rooster is the last to leave the open field.
How mother hen faces up any creature who gets close to her chicks no matter how big or scary, and how she scratches the ground to create opportunity for her young to gobble up.
Even as a mother bird flies to distant lands to source resources for her young to benefit from and even feed from her mouth, so shall a true king. A true king will not eat the resources he has sourced for his subjects just because they are in his mouth.
A king doesn't amass wealth for his own benefit, he does so for the benefit of those who depend on his leadership. any king who squanders the storehouse of his kingdom is but slave with a crown.
A king doesn't keep servants so he can get to sleep until noon, he never retires from his hard work, servants only help him attend to the broader vision he has for the kingdom. Any king who uses servants for his personal convenience is but a tramp with a crown.
The captain of the ship sinks with his ship, he doesn't run for safety, even Jack Sparrow knows that. Any king who leaves his followers to do the dirty work when things go wrong, is but a slave with a crown.
With great power comes great responsibility, "to whom much is given, much more is required." "It is much more blessed to give than to receive", wise words from a wise king, Jesus. The only reason we have is so that we can give away. there is nothing to be glorified in amassing wealth and power only to show it off.
There is nothing special about being a king, nothing to be proud about. There is nothing special about it, just as much as there is nothing special about the guy who sings bass in the choir. Don't get caught up in the wrong emotions and in pointless parades of wealth and power.
Being a king is a responsibility not a privilege. It is a job like any other, a role like any other and just as the guy who can sing with a deep voice gets the bass role in the choir, the guy who can lead gets the king role.
Embrace your Power and Dominion but don't just end there! You should, as well, embrace your responsibility towards the people who are less capable and less powerful than you are and the people who depend on you.
It is natural to be a king, it is not an honour. Everyone is a king. If you are a Christian you should probably know the 6th verse in the 1st chapter of the book Revelations that say "He [Christ] has made us kings.."
I, the bastard son of the Mighty Creator of Life, I say to you fellow children of the Creator of Life; you were born a king. A crown doesn't makes you king, not even your blood. But it is your heart and soul that make you king, it is your daily actions, so every single day of your life, live like a king. A true king.
