The End of Witchcraft

I am on some Martin Luther King Jr. tip today and I am saying I HAVE A DREAM! I long to see the day when the terrorists and soldiers drop theirs arms and sit down to share a pack of cigarettes, or a pack of maputi. I have a dream that all religions reconcile their differences and become one, I wanna see some rabbis at a pork braai.

Is that really my dream? Nah... I have a dream that one day all the witches will drop their tundumusereseres, their flying baskets and hyenas, and get public transport like everybody else. I have a dream that all Sangomas will remove all zvitsingas and all those crippling charms and zvikwambos, goblins and money spitting snakes from their stock, and not prescribe such to their clients. That is my dream guys, my dream is THE END OF WITCHCRAFT. You wanna know why? Let me explain.

While most of the population will never be found stark naked at Mbudzi Cemetery, unearthing a corpse in some mysterious way, there is quite a number of witches of various degrees among us. If you look at the society around you, you will find that not everyone rejoices at another's progress. I even find that feeling in myself sometimes. Its hard to fight, it feels like it was ingrained in my DNA centuries ago. That feeling of not being happy at another's success is really the root cause of witchcraft.

I am not brave enough to ride a hyena butt naked, but I still feel a slight tinge of jealousy when someone close buys a new pair of jeans and I haven't. I only go as far as making nasty jokes about what they bought, not jokes that tickle but jokes that sting. Oh crap, I'm a witch! But I'm working on it, i'm trying to hold my tongue these days and I'm getting better with every new purchase my friends make!

Why do we find it hard to rejoice at another's breakthrough? I mean, genuinely and selflessly be happy at another's success? What are we afraid of? You hear people say "aakuvhaira mazuvaano, he is acting snobbish these days." Come on guys, the dude is now rolling in a freaking Mercedes Benz, you can't expect him to act the same way he did when he was riding that Blackhorse bicycle. That's just unrealistic!

Accept it, be happy for them, and feel their joy. You see, that's the only way you can actually rise to that level. When you release that happy, grateful energy, it will only come back to you in the form of physical things that your heart desires. Come on, you and I know you want that too. Swallow your pride, stick around, talk to them, find out how they made it to the top.

What are we really afraid of? Where does our sense of self worth really come from? Does it come from the material things we have, or does it come from the strength of our character? Does it come from our social positions or does it come from our confidence in the power of our love? Where does YOUR sense of self worth come from?

If you feel threatened by other people's success then work on your character, break you old habits and form better habits. Yeah, yeah, we both know how hard that is, but it's gotta be done still, or else you will consume yourself to death in self pity, or start to bring down those who are doing well. Here is how it all works: Continued actions form habits, continued habits form character, continued character leads to destiny.

Imagine being destined to succeed all because you took the time to form the right habits? Here is a list of habits that are far much better than witching:
  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin with the end in mind.
  3. Put first things first
  4. Think Win-Win
  5. Seek first to understand before you are understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the saw

You are your most valuable asset, if you believe in yourself, in the strength of your character, you will know you can achieve anything you put your mind to. You will not feel threatened by the progress of others. The reason you should congratulate others is because you need it. Yes, you need to break free from to the chains of jealousy or else they will hold you back from your own success. You need that happy positive feeling, it will bring many good things in your life.

I have a dream, ladies and gentlemen, that one day this nation will adopt the habit of uplifting each other instead of pulling each other down, that we may grow and flourish together in rejoicing. I have I dream.

I have a dream that one day we will stop lying to ourselves that we are afraid to visit our rural homes for fear of witchcraft, yet we are practicing in it in broad daylight while fully clothed. I have a dream that one day we will all be happy for each other and encourage each to progress, to make and pursue new discoveries. I have a dream.

I HAVE A DREAM, call me crazy but the Great Steve Jobs said "... those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

Together we can make this work.

I wish you success.
